i have to resist...
pretty disappointed with the customer service at tony romas just now. first of all, we waited at least ten minutes at the bar counter without any water served before we got our cushion seats. without a second check, the waiter brought us to a table that was full of bread crumbs, so we had to wait at a nearby table. an even longer wait for the menus and iced water, then the baguette, and THEN slowly, the food was served.
we had bayou chicken salad (barbecued chicken breast atop leafy greens, ranch beans, boiled egg with cheddar cheese and honey mustard dressing) and half-slab roasted garlic rosemary ribs (we made used of the e-voucher promotion, and got this at 50%! can't really tell this apart from the usual ribs, but this version was sprinkled with grated cheese... love the baked potato with bacon bits and even more cheese!). yummy, yummy... great dinner, especially for a monday evening... best way to beat the monday blues. :) somehow, i'm starting to feel the christmas mood.
christmas pictures taken on sunday with the gals will be uploaded soon! these busy girls, fancy having to make plans and book their free slots almost one month in advance, in no time they will probably require secretaries. :P enjoy the beach fun at bintan and phuket, get a nice healthy tan!

dewy pink sleeveless blouse with ribbon details.
do you label yourself?
eh, no? some ppl around me label me bimbo (as a joke, it better be).

online sistic booking for tickets to "chestnuts episode 3: revenge of the shooting stars" this saturday, it's starring hossan leong!
what was the last text message you received on your cell phone?

film? come on, everybody's going digital. and this reminds me, i should start doing some housekeeping and get the nice ones printed out.

no point looking back at the past, i'm enjoying every moment of the present, so i would say, now - 24.
your worst enemy?
my temper and pride.

to my bro just minutes ago, "hey, i want to use the comp!"
if you have to choose between 1,000,000 bucks or to be able to change a major regret?

do you like someone?
definitely.
the last song you listened to?
you won't believe this, somebody just sang me the nursery rhyme "hot cross buns"! "hot cross buns! hot cross buns! one a penny, two a penny, hot cross buns!" - hahahaha, that was so funny. :)

black no more
referring to my hair that is. since i was working on-site at changi in the morning, i decided to take the afternoon off to pop by tampines for my long overdue hair trim and a colouring job. :) although i'm currently in the mood of growing out my hair (as usual for me, it's one of those long-locks-then-sudden-short-crop cycles), it was getting to look unruly, and not forgetting, boring. my previous highlights were done on a budget at kimage graduate school, and the brown shades were probably too similar to really stand out. this time round, the stylist at shunji matsuo quick express (doris, if i didn't catch her name wrongly) chose a mahogany base with streaks of copper red and blondish brown - three rounds of colouring in all. it was dreadful having to sit there for hours, managed to occupy myself by reading through work reports (now some pages are slightly stained, oops), style and newman mags, and dozing off in-between. $160 spent - now a more refreshing look and my hair feels lighter, maybe a little over the top... ermm, hopefully i don't invite unnecessary stares at work tomorrow. ;)
it's my mum's birthday tomorrow, and i think she's going to cut the black forest cake i got from tampines four leaves NOW. supper, supper... toodles!

counting down, 33 more days - what i want for christmas:
(randomly as each comes to mind)
-white snowy christmas, opening presents by the warm and cosy fireplace in victoria secrets pjs w/ snow flake prints
-new hair trim/colour (maybe warm chocolate brown w/ streaks, can't afford anything over the top in my line)
-more earrings and maybe a necklace from pinc.ws (irresistably pretty that i'll definitely be hooked if not for the price)
-world peace (ms congenality said it all, but seriously, the ST frontpage headlines this morning scares me - the JI terrorist group in indonesia is planning christmas attacks against the catholic and christian churches. hopefully with the recent successful raids, these evil ploys will be uncovered.)
-nice photographs taken with my loved ones (my camera has been out of action for quite some time, since i misplaced my battery charger during the shift. got a replacement multi-purpose charger from sim lim on sunday, so now i'm all ready to *snap snap* starting this weekend with xp & co. ;) yay.)
-proper rest (i still have leave accumulated since last year (and note: i was only entitled to 10.5 days for 2004), is there something seriously wrong here? i think i need a break from work, go somewhere where i can guiltlessly off my handphone and not bother replying to e-mails.)
-huge gym bag (just thought a HUGE gym bag would do me good, so that i can stuff all my gym clothes and shoes all-in-one - this will prevent me from looking really clumsy and "aunty-ish" on the bus, especially so when i have another bulky office laptop to lug around.)
-manicure/pedicure (indulgence, indulgence! come on, christmas only comes once a year! :P)
-complete my room (as mentioned in my previous entry, i'm still looking for a work bench/table for my room. also, i won't mind paying for a huge abstract painting to complete the look and to spice things up a little, somehow those i've seen so far don't match my room well.)
-a christmas tree, decorated in gold and red.
that's it for now - i'm a simple girl. ;)
hey ppl, drop a note for me to know your wishes for christmas? there may be a chance i can help. ;)

finally had time to take some pictures of my room. errrmmmm, to be frank, it's not all done up yet. i've originally intended to get a coffee table to act as a laptop/work bench then fill that area up with coordinated cushions and pillows, but unfortunately, the one i was eyeing at v.hive was sold out and became a discontinued item. so now there are still a few small unopened boxes lying around, but delibrately hidden from camera sight. hopefully, it'll be ready before x'mas. :P

another personality test - mostly true. :)
scribbled at 10:04 pm
.::.
Your Personality Is |
You are both logical and creative. You are full of ideas. You are so rational that you analyze everything. This drives people a little crazy! Intelligence is important to you. You always like to be around smart people. In fact, you're often a little short with people who don't impress you mentally. You seem distant to some - but it's usually because you're deep in thought. Those who understand you best are fellow Rationals. In love, you tend to approach things with logic. You seek a compatible mate - who is also very intelligent. At work, you tend to gravitate toward idea building careers - like programming, medicine, or academia. With others, you are very honest and direct. People often can't take your criticism well. As far as your looks go, you're coasting on what you were born with. You think fashion is silly. On weekends, you spend most of your time thinking, experimenting with new ideas, or learning new things. |
phew! we were all made picasso this afternoon, as a whole group of us volunteered our service to help the old folks paint their one-room flats! it was one of those volunteer-a-day activities we participate in yearly for charity. and mind you, it was no easy feat trying to do a decent job, especially when most of the walls were uneven and had cracks and crevices in them (now i feel bad scrutinising the paint job done by my contractors, it's definitely worth every cent getting the pros to do it). oh well, after 4 hours of sweat, my group of six managed to do up the one-room flat w/ toilet being allocated to us, and thank goodness, it didn't look that patchy after the paint started drying up. let's hope the old folks will like their new off-white room. :)

Give Lavishly! Live Abundantly!
by Helen Steiner Rice
The more you give, the more you get --
The more you laugh, the less you fret --
The more you do UNSELFISHLY,
The more you live ABUNDANTLY...
The more of everything you share,
The more you'll always have to spare --
The more you love, the more you'll find
That life is good and friends are kind...
For only WHAT WE GIVE AWAY,
ENRICHES US FROM DAY TO DAY.
really looking forward to the weekend (especially now that exams have ended, no more coaching to do on sundays!) - to relax, catch up some beauty sleep, hang around in town to admire the christmas light-up, or even try out new recipes! last weekend was this ling-ghetti (new concoction using linguine and spaghetti) with minced meat, button mushrooms and italian sausage tomato sauce, yummy! i was even "aunty" enough to try making home-made barley water... what to do, parents going to be away for two weeks in december, got to get used to taking care of myself once again.
the holiday season's coming and there are just so many nice movies i'm looking forward to watch:
1) harry potter and the goblet of fire (who has watched this?)
2) the chronicles of narnia: the lion, the witch and the wardrobe
3) memoirs of a geisha (loved the book!)
4) chicken little (the dancing chicken little in the handphone ad is just so funny)

tony parson's the family way
Synopsis
It should be the most natural thing in the world. But in Tony Parsons' latest bestseller, three couples discover that Mother Nature can be one hell of a bitch.
Paulo loves Jessica. He thinks that together they are complete - a family of two. But Jessica can't be happy until she has a baby, and the baby stubbornly refuses to come. Can a man and a woman ever really be a family of two? Megan doesn't love her boyriend anymore. After a one-night stand with an Australian beach bum, she finds that even a trainee doctor can slip up on the family planning. Should you bring a child into the world if you don't love its father? Cat loves her life. After bringing up her two youngest sisters, all she craves is freedom. Her older boyfriend has done the family thing before and is in no rush to do it all again. But can a modern woman really find true happiness without ever being in the family way?
Three sisters. Three couples. Two pregnancies. Six men and women struggling with love, sex, fertility and the meaning of family
finished this novel about a week ago, but didn't have the time to write about it. an easy-read such that you'll find yourself immersed in the story and unable to put the book down. the story is however pretty simplistic, giving an insight into marriage and parenthood, and it really makes me wonder whether it is possible for people to long for children this much, and that perfect men like paulo probably never exists.

what a week. monday leave and the two public holiday flew past just like that, i can't believe how exhausted i am even though i only worked two days this week, strange. let's see, what have i been up to -
monday - on leave that day but my silly screwed-up biological clock woke me up at 8am, sometimes i really hate myself for not being able to laze in bed to reward my body with just abit more rest. did the most familiar task which is to boot up my laptop, check my e-mails and then surf the internet for my daily dose of reading. and guess what, i also made proper lunch for the first time in so many years, self-made lunch wasn't sunny-side-ups, french toast or instant noodles but pork rib soup with diced potatoes, carrots, and tofu cubes, served with a bowl of plain fragrant white rice! *chuckles*
tuesday was shopping day! instead of focusing on getting D's birthday present, we ended up shopping for our own stuff - girls, what's new, yeah? super broke after spending on yet another skirt, this time round from zara (you really don't see me wearing skirts, but i still love buying them :P), formal work heels and mango racer-back top. anyway at the end of the evening, we DID manage to get him a adidas watch, at 20% discount too, it's time this doctor-to-be outgrow his cutesy cartoonish swatch. :)
my body was even more cruel to me on thursday, this time round, it wasn't even 7am when i got up! i didn't feel the need to go back to dreamland, and had the sudden and weirdest urge to clear up the mess in my room (parents were the most glad i did that). three boxes worth of lecture notes and tutorials ended up being dumped in the storeroom, while the rest of my text books, childhood story books, photo albums, stationery and miscellaneous junk filled up the entire storage space at the top of my wardrobe. guess what i found in the midst of unpacking - the scholarsip deed which i blindly signed in july 2000 (10% compound interest! *gasps*) and lots and lots of birthday/CNY/x'mas cards which i had faithfully kept since primary school (xp, you were super mushy in some of those! need to show you what you're capable of writing 8 years ago, harhar!). now it feels so good to just cuddle under the blankets with my book, or admire my new LCD tv in bed!
it's the weekend, once again! maybe it's time to check out the x'mas lightings in town, they're almost up! it's just 50 more days to x'mas, people!
