birthday celebrations and long easter weekend
the photographs were put together last night, and i didn't post them till now because i was trying to find some time to type a nice long entry for the eventful long easter weekend (i can't believe it just went by like this, argh). but after working on a report the whole night, i don't think i've the heart to torture my mind and body further. perhaps, when i stumbled upon the writer's block for my report, i'll come back here to blog... so for now, enjoy the pictures!
my sweet colleagues celebrated my belated birthday at ristorante de valentino (situated down rifle range road). google to find out more about this less-than-one-year-old italian hangout! one of the better italian food i've tasted, trust me on this.
sandcastle-building at palawan beach, sentosa
birthday celebrations for the great arians, namely jack, xp and me! - brunch at river cafe along robertson quay, shopping in town, dinner and mahjong session at jack's residence till 3am! gosh, now i really need a miracle eye cream to save my panda eyes. someone, please help recommend!

la teh gang birthday surprise
birthday update part 2
as the pictures show, i had two birthday cakes this year! the bf's mum sneakily bought a mixed fruit cake while we were preparing to go out for dinner (even he was surprised!) the bf already made plans for the surprise gang to standby at tampines ikea cafe, hence, the cake-cutting was so rushed i forgot to make a birthday wish! luckily i had another cake. :P i kind of expected we were meeting some people that evening (if not why need to rush like hell...), but somehow, i was still surprised to see the whole gang waiting at the corner of the cafe with a lighted cake - chocolate rum&cherry from awfully chocolate! i guess it helped that i'm a little myopic. we really had a feast - 1 1/2 dozens of chicken wings, plates of swedish meat balls, spaghetti, mee goreng and (free flow of) soft drinks (can anyone tell me if the drinks are supposed to be free flow?) anyway, i kind of like tampines ikea, the place is spacious (really huge!) and the best part, the parking is free of charge! we got to find a weekday to explore this area, courts and giant inclusive.
thank you, guys, for making your way to ulu tampines to make this surprise possible. it's always fun hanging out and ending the night snacking at ata (that's how we call the prata house), haha. special thanks to mark ge, for driving all the way to the east to collect the cake, he should have just orderd your favourite blackforest cake from pine gardens to save you the trouble right! :P (btw, i tried pine gardens, and it's really not bad.) and of course, how can i possibly forget, a big thank you to the bf for planning my entire birthday. *winks* :-)

26, 26, 26...... gosh!
birthday update part 1
it's quite a memorable 26th birthday for me two days ago. as usual, i was on leave, hence, a long weekend for me. (btw, it feels good to be on leave on a monday, especially so when you know that everybody else will be suffering from monday blues. *evil grin*) after the clock struck midnight, the sms-es started coming in... many thanks to those who remembered and for the kind blessings, quite a number were people i haven't contacted for the past year, it was nice to hear from them once again. i was really caught by surprise, since i'm terrible at remembering birthdays myself. the bf, being his usual sweet self, surprised me with a black puma carry bag which i've been eyeing for a rather long time, and a pretty forever friends card with pink 3d hearts all over. other than the birthday ang pow, mummy also made me a bowl of birthday mee sua with a hard-boiled egg and lots of liver and pork slices. i believe it is traditional for chinese to have this dish on their birthday to signify longevity. (btw, this is not the norm in my household, mummy made it again this year because the bf was loud-mouthed and asked innocently...)
AND... can you believe where we actually went after such a heavy brunch? we went to ikoi for japanese lunch buffet (for those who don't know, ikoi is at miramar hotel, and is pretty famous for its a la carte buffet). although we're both sashimi fans, we didn't expect the waitress to give us two HUGE plates of assorted raw fish - which was a bad news because i don't take anything other than salmon (no snapper, no yellow tail, not even tuna, no no). the ebi and mushroom tempura was really tasty - crisp, light and freshly fried. i really wished i had more room for cold soba and some rolled sushi.
